August 31, 2015 - Highlights from our Facebook Page - January 2013 - Present
Over the past several years, we have relied heavily on our Facebook page to post updates on all things Littlelocos Model Engineering.  As of July 2015, we are copying most of that content to our NEWS Page here.  Enjoy!

First test castings at the foundry. Valuable "frozen information" as to how we did on the patterns. Spent about 1-1/2 hours touching up the plates while at the foundry this afternoon. We plan to do a short run as-is and do a final re-dressing before making the first full run. For the next several weeks, I'll be working on other parts of the kits (gears, springs, plans, CD's, packaging, etc.) Stay tuned...

It's a wrap!  I wrapped up the remaining two matchplates this evening and am headed to the foundry tomorrow.

More progress on the P&W Horizontal patterns this evening. The new horizontal base will be hollow underneath the thick section. This removes about 2 cubic inches or about 10 oz of bronze from each casting, saving weight and cost while reducing the tendency for the thick area to shrink.

The patterns for the Parsell & Weed Vertical have been delivered to the foundry and will soon be in production!!  Now to finish up the plates for the Horizontal engine.

Matchplates for Heads and Cylinder Collars ready for final smoothing, filling, and sealing.

This is the coolest-looking matchplate of the set - Vertical Engine Bases. I like the bobby-pin-style drag-runner. 6 risers are located on the cope side with in-gates extending over the vertical stanchions to help prevent shrinkage defects.

Olive takes a break from her reading and laundry to check progress on the P&W Vertical bearing stands matchplate. She works so hard!
Drag side: 7 pairs of bearing patterns with in-gates and holes for 28 locating pins. Approval received, now I'm off to assemble the cope side
.
